On Sunday, July 18 the love of my life popped the big question. I, of course, said "yes!" and thus began the happiest day of my 25 years. We were in Savannah, Georgia visiting the school that Grant will be attending in January. Our plans were to drive to Tybee Island and watch the sunset at the top of a lighthouse. Only, when we got there I realized the lighthouse was closed! To my surprise, a woman walked up to our car, looked at us and asked, "are you Grant?" I was stunned to find out that Grant had reserved the entire lighthouse just for us! So, we walked to the top and watched a beautiful sunset over the Atlantic Ocean and as I was preparing to take a picture of the horizon, I turned around and he was on one knee with a gorgeous diamond ring in his hand. I stood in shock for a little too long and once I caught my breath, I said yes in between tears. It was AMAZING. Everything I had ever hoped for and so much more.
The last few weeks have been filled with bridal magazines, texts, cards and phone calls of congratulations and yet I still feel like I'm living in a dream. It's so much fun to look for wedding goodies when I know I'm not just being crazy hopeful. There are so many things to think about, colors, style, flowers, guests, wedding party, cakes, dresses--it's a good thing that we have plenty of time. Since Grant has a year to spend in Georgia getting his degree, we're planning on June 2012 for the big day. Plenty of time to change my mind on everything.
For now, we're focusing on saving money, planning our engagement party, and narrowing down the guest list to a manageable/affordable size (Grant's family is gigantic). And, of course, continuing to enjoy the fabulous summer that we've had this year.
I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!
