"So I have some bad news." That may not have been the best way to return to work after being on 5 weeks of disability. But, I did what I had to do and gave my 2 weeks notice at MDA after being offered a job that I honestly never thought I could land. Last Friday was my last day and while I feel bad for leaving after their insurance paid for 95% of my $32,000 hospital bill I know that I made the right choice.
Tomorrow is my first day as Account Coordinator at Oliver Russell in Boise. This is such an awesome opportunity for me and shows a lot of promise to be a long-term career. I'll finally be able to put my marketing education to good use and get out of the non-profit world. The timing wasn't great, but it was an opportunity that I couldn't let go.
So I suppose I should be thankful that my appendix went on the fritz. If it hadn't, I may not have ever applied for the job and could have missed this chance completely. Um, thank you?
Just when I thought that I was done with insurance claims, some soccer mom decides to rear-end me on the freeway. Luckily, we weren't going very fast and the damage is pretty minor...but I'm totally getting my bumper replaced anyway. BECAUSE I CAN.
Anyway, my recovery is going really well. I'm pretty much back to normal except that I can't exercise yet which is bumming me out. My diet is almost the same, except for the fact that cheese seems to make my stomach very angry, which depresses me beyond belief. My favorite food used to be pizza, but I guess that position is open now. I suppose my thighs and butt will thank me later.
So far 2010 has been quite the year. I'm a little nervous for what else it has in store...
